I so admire your work that I had decided to download your radical money program to review it this weekend. I am so very disappointed that now I have paid and I have been offered no method of downloading this. I hope you get this fixed soon because I really would like to participate.

Mr. Tipping,
You have stated that "Yet a large number of people seem to imagine that failure to create meaningful reform would be a victory. They imagine that stopping reform would somehow be in their interest and would by itself solve the bigger problem of record deficits."

As one of the angry mob, I can tell you that I am not against healthcare reform, nor do I think that stopping this bill would by itself solve the bigger problem of record deficits. But I am against the current bill as proposed by congress.

This bill will add significantly to the deficit.

According to an August 4th post on www.heritage.com (http://blog.heritage.org/2009/08/04/health-care-reform-cost-estimates-what-is-the-track-record/) the latest CBO scoring of the Senate’s leading bill, Dodd-Kennedy, estimates that Obamacare will add $597 billion over just the next ten years. Meanwhile, CBO director Doug Elmendorf has said the House health plan will increase the budget deficit by $239 billion over ten years, and “generate substantial increases in federal budget deficits during the decade beyond the current 10-year budget window.”

Or if you object to the Heritage Foundation, CNN reported on July 2, 2009 (http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/07/02/senate.health.care/index.html) that the bill will cost $611 billion dollars over 10 years.

Our current debt, without adding healthcare to the picture, is $11.8 trillion dollars. It is fiscally irresponsible to fund more programs and add to our debt when we don't have the money to pay for it and when the economy is in a negative cycle. This is common sense.

Economist Walter E. Williams commented, "President Obama and congressional supporters estimate that his health care plan will cost between $50 and $65 billion a year. Such cost estimates are lies whether they come from a Democratic president and Congress, or a Republican president and Congress. ... At its start, in 1966, Medicare cost $3 billion. The House Ways and Means Committee, along with President Johnson, estimated that Medicare would cost an inflation-adjusted $12 billion by 1990. In 1990, Medicare topped $107 billion. That's nine times Congress' prediction. Today's Medicare tab comes to $420 billion with no signs of leveling off. How much confidence can we have in any cost estimates by the White House or Congress? Another part of the Medicare lie is found in Section 1801 of the 1965 Medicare Act that reads: 'Nothing in this title shall be construed to authorize any federal officer or employee to exercise any supervision or control over the practice of medicine, or the manner in which medical services are provided, or over the selection, tenure, or compensation of any officer, or employee, or any institution, agency or person providing health care services.' Ask your doctor or hospital whether this is true."

Why do we need a 1300 page bill to reform healthcare? Why did Obama insist that the bill be rammed through congress in a month without giving anyone time to read it?

We are not in a healthcare crisis and the system is not broken though reform is needed. Here are some simple ideas for health care reform that are not part of Obama's reform package: tort reform, removing barriers that prevent health insurance companies from insuring people across state lines, allowing insurance companies to offer a wide-range of policies, fewer government mandates on health insurance policies, and Medical Savings Accounts. These simple ideas would bring healthcare costs down. They would not add to the deficit or necessitate an increase in taxes.

So why aren’t these simple ideas included in Obama’s reform bill? Because special interests don’t want them. Take tort reform for example, trial lawyers are against tort reform because it would greatly impact the amount of compensation juries could award in malpractice cases and, as a consequence, a trial attorneys fees.

According to an article in Investors Business Daily (http://www.ibdeditorials.com/IBDArticles.aspx?id=333759404527100) “The accounting firm PricewaterhouseCoopers says about 10% of the cost of medical service is attributable to medical malpractice lawsuits. Roughly 2% is caused by direct costs of the lawsuits; an additional 5% to 9% is due to expenses run up by defensive medicine.”

And yes, Mr. Tipping, I am angry about a lot of what is happening in America today, but I am not wounding myself by misdirecting my anger at healthcare reform. Healthcare reform as proposed by the Obama administration is simply the straw that broke the camel’s back.

And, by the way, the American dream is not dead. You are a living, breathing example of the American dream. So how can you even say that?

Yes there is a more sensible doctor care system and it is already here, no waiting. It is called self discipline and planning. The problem is people do not want that responsibility. They much prefer to be coddled no matter what they do or don't do.They want big mommy government to take care of them without a thought as to who it may inconvenience or place a burden on. Never mind that they will in droves go right back to the lifestyles and habits that got them there in the first place. Because they know who will take care of them and without lifting a finger so why worry.
I know from talking to many health insurance customer service representatives that medicaid recipients automatically assume on a regular basis that they have everything coming to them and is a right of theirs and they can't understand it when someone tells them yes there is actually a limit to what you are entitled to.They are also the ones who most often break or lose their medical devices or glasses and are irate that they don't qualify for another until next year. They are also the rudest with their entitlement attitudes.Little responsibility equates to little to no willingness to plan or maintain those things they do have. It's human nature,it's nothing new. To enable them does them no favors it retards their progress to being a disciplined responsible adult. As they become disciplined and responsible they tend to do it in all areas of their lives even health. As they get more so they depend on doctors less and less and even realizing yes their choices reveal their health. Not a novel concept to those in the alternative health care field where independent thinking is the rule not the exception.Predicting future behavior in humans is not hard. Simply look at what has been done in the past and usually that will be repeated.
As you speak of self delusion realize that this country is just now waking to it's delusion of being able to have it all and now,not tomorrow.Home ownership is not a right. It can and will be taken from you at anytime (foreclosure, taxes, maintenance, health, death of a partner). The thought that you started paying for it and now can't afford it but darn it you should still get to keep it is ludicrous. To put America's position in perspective monetarily you need an early 20's person who has stars in their eyes and 10 credit cards to max out and only the wages of someone who works at McDonalds. They go out and buy on credit all in the same week a new Mercedes, house, gym membership, office building, summer home, yacht, tract of land, banana plantation and has just invited every one he knows to come to live with him all expenses paid, stay as long as you want.America now is sure it cannot cover all of that and they know for sure that they do not want any more leveraged credit on debt they are already drowning in.It is delusional to any rational person that it can sustain itself .It is a fools paradise soon to become a nightmare. Stop the madness.

I might be able to tell you why money seems to be the lynchpin for the health care debate in the U.S.
We are not a wealthy nation. Simple enough? Despite Hillary and Obama claiming we are sooo wealthy we must redistribute money to those who cannot afford it. So that they too can get doctor care. We in fact are the worlds BIGGEST DEBTOR nation. So much so that China is leary of lending us any more money and no one else will even consider such a foolish move.Further China wants to change from the currency of the dollar to their currency as the standard for the world. They know full well how tenuous a grip our economy has before going completely in the toilet.
We are not wealthy because huge portions of doctor care is already under the control of the government in this country.Perhaps you have heard of medicare, medicaid, social security, and Hillary's proud baby the insurance for children. Each and all an abomination of bureaucratic blunder and stupidity and of course inefficiency. The government can almost be forgiven. They have no core competency in any of these areas of endeavor. We should not have given these children the keys to the car they don't know how to drive.
So with these money losers on our books already and bailouts and deficit spending run amok does it really make sense to do this now? Or ever?Possibly we may take a look at it later but only after you show us in the black ink on all the things they have managed to drive into red ink since year one.
Of course this would be political suicide so it would never be considered in any serious discussion. So Obama has his chance to show us we're all wrong about him. HE really does love this country more than himself, he will gladly sacrifice his political career and fall on his sword so that all mankind will benefit.
Don't hold your breath. He is all about him. He will sacrifice nothing. Only the little people have to do that.He is above it.
Realize he is guaranteed more money than he will know what to do with after his one term presidency. That is not enough for him he must remake the world. So much for letting personal ambition get in the way of truly substantial lasting change for the better.
We need not take care of everything that causes you worry. No one has the time or ability to look after you or anybody other than their families. So if you get sick and die, so what? Did you suppose you were going to last forever? If you die a few years earlier than you wanted to,so what, you were programmed to die anyway.Did you have it planned that you would win the lottery or write your last book in the year before your death and therefore take the burden off of every person you know and then the world would be peachy and the end of all cares would descend upon us. Baloney. The world will continue pretty much as you know it after you die. So paying for your doctor care doesn't make any more sense than paying for your food on an ongoing basis. That at least is something you can count on needing every day pretty much.
If you practice wise living you will need doctor care rarely if ever. It is precisely those who don't who will soak up the most doctor care and put the least into it,good luck trying to stay ahead of that curve. This idea of federal doctor care flies in the face of all logic.Bury this right along with Hillary care.

Dear Colin,

While I have not had the privilege of experiencing Radical Forgiveness taught by you live, I employ it my life.

Truth is who we are, what we are is immortal. There is no "perishing", no "death", no "end". All life on Earth could be erradicated, in fact the planet could implode and it would make little difference. Earth and it's inhabitants are merely created illusions. Nothing created is Real. It is all a dream dreamt and we are not the dreamers and yet we are the Dreamer. We are not the Earth and its inhabitants and yet, in this moment, we are.

Life is a glorious game. The purpose of which is to squeal with joy and with delight as we ride over the bumps and splashes that this Earth expressed existence has to offer. Nothing is good, nothing is bad. It's all a created fun ride. And if and when this ride closes, there is always another for the immortal One Being to climb onto.

So I offer this quote by the brilliant and very awake Bill Hicks who closed his shows with this description of our "Earthly tenure" perfectly - "It's Just a Ride!"

"The world is like a ride in an amusement park. And when you choose to go on it you think it's real because that's how powerful our minds are. And the ride goes up and down and round and round. It has thrills and chills and it's very brightly colored and it's very loud and it's fun, for a while. Some people have been on the ride for a long time and they begin to question: 'Is this real, or is this just a ride?" And other people have remembered, and they come back to us, they say, 'Hey, don't worry, don't be afraid, ever, because this is just a ride.' And we kill those people"......

"It's just a ride and we can change it any time we want. It's only a choice. No effort, no work, no job, no savings and money, a choice, right now, between fear and love. The eyes of fear want you to put bigger locks on your door, buy guns, close yourself off. The eyes of love instead see all of us as one."

A choice between Love and Fear. I choose Love. :-D

With Love and Joy!

Amy

Dear Colin,

In relation to the e-letter received about what will happen in 2013, I have the
following questions and suggestions:

1) I do not know whether you have already done/tried it or not, but here it is:
have you contacted socially powerful (leaders), either because they are
famous or very rich? I think that would boost the healing process quite a
lot. Their influence could be used for something more fruitful than where
they go on holidays or which textile they are wearing, which sadly it seems is the only interest they generate in society these days. Quite sure there are
actors, musicians, famous and wealthy people who could become leaders in
what really matters, by donating vast amounts of money to Radical Forgiveness or
any other Mind Power professional organization. My point is that it not only counts how many of us offset what others do not do spiritually, but also who does it. For instance, I may provide the same positive outcome as George Clooney, but I am not him, so my role model would be far more limited than his, for the mere fact of not being him.

2) China and India: especially the former is the largest predator the human
kind has ever seen, and the pace by which they destroy nature is unparalel:
forests, soil, rivers, seas and so on. They do not even care about the
health of their own people, where millions get ill due to high pollution levels.

I fully agree with you that our current lifestyle is suicidal. But every poor country wants to imitate us! I do think it would be very positive for the entire planet that people like you taught in both China and India, as with both of them joining the Happy Hour Consumption Club, the only likely scenario is to get things much worse and much faster for every one. Have you tried to either teach some key local players out of them own countries or
lecture seminars there?

3) The lack of respect for nature: to me it is unbelievable how over-focussed we are in cost efficiency. Every single time companies try to do things cheaper, up to the point where many products are crap, which means that quite a few of them have to be replaced under warranty, even when brand new. Looks like no one thinks that most inputs we use are limited, such as the hardware you find in any electrocic device. What a waste of natural resources!

I truly believe that we as humans are becoming a terminal cancer for the Planet, and so it will respond. I do not know how, though for quite some time I have believed that the end of our civilization will arrive either through total war or by Nature instruments.

Regards,

Santiago.

Excellent article, Colin!

I don’t feel I need to complete a worksheet on the political race between Obama and Hillary, though I know a number of people who do. Some women I know believe that because Hillary is female, she should be automatically given the chance. Says who? I don’t believe in entitlement. We all have to “earn” our success. She worked hard…no one can deny that and in the end, it was not meant to be. At least not right now.

With political races in particular, I always hope that the candidate best qualified for the job will be nominated and/or elected. Of course, that’s often not true. That’s sad, but one can dream. Hillary’s camp made mistakes, Obama made a few too. I think ultimately it is less about the male/female, black/white thing (though there is that of course) and more about the message delivered. Yes, Hillary has experience. But she has baggage also and I'm certain that a lot of people will remember the healthcare boondoggle.

It seems to me that there is just something about Obama’s message that resonates with people, especially young people. We should celebrate that he’s woken some people from their coma's and inspired them to get involved. People want change! Unfortunately Hillary’s husband was probably more of a hindrance than help to her in achieving her goal.

Many of us are totally fed up with ineffective governmental leaders and more of the same ole...well, you know...year after year. Obama may not be as experienced, but the possibility that we could go from Bush to Clinton to Bush to Clinton was not a palatable idea.

As for me, I hadn’t totally decided who I was supporting. For once, I was really listening carefully and observing both sides. I'm betting I'm not the only one, so if nothing else the Obama/Clinton race was interesting enough to cause people to pay attention.
